A Road Often Traversed
In times of express transit and express shipment, sometimes it’s nice to shun the expressway and take the old ghats to savor the journey.
It’s undisputable that the Mumbai-Pune old ghat has it’s own charm with its narrow, curvey road meandering up the hill.
I’m leaving aside the beauty that it is for riding a bike, I’d rather reserve that for the biker community as I’m in no capacity to do any justice on that front.
I’m writing this piece while I’m on a yet another Mumbai-Pune-Mumbai journey for probably the Nth time since the past three decades of my being.
It’s indeed a surreal journey with the overcast sky above my head, lush greenery around, gentle breeze brushing my hair, and the cold drizzle kissing my face.
Well, some of the journeys have been super exciting as I looked forward to a fun summer holiday, sometimes with tearful eyes I was grudgingly going back to school,
sometimes with a heart full of impatience and a bag full of brand new colorful dresses (with their tags still on and which still smelled of the store scent) I was looking forward to a wedding,
sometimes to meet an ailing member in the extended family probably for one last time, sometimes it was a flurry of emotions as I moved away from home for work, and sometimes it was a famished me longing to polish-off my favorite mommy-made Kadhi-Chawal.
Needless to say, Mumbai-Pune-Mumbai journey will always hold a special place in my ❤️!
